Winter in Ibiza

What’s the winter like in Ibiza? Ibiza Estates often hears this question. Winter is not really the case, late summer would be a much better term. Grey, drizzly days are rare in Ibiza, where the sun shines an average of 300 days a year. The clear blue sky and the empty roads make Ibiza the perfect place to spend the winter. Ibiza Estates has several luxury villas for rent during this period, where you can fully enjoy the late summer in Ibiza. The period when tranquillity returns on The White Isle and ‘the island inhabitants’ come together in the places that are open.

What to do in the winter in Ibiza
Many people are afraid that once the big clubs are closed, there is not much to do in Ibiza. No less true, of course the nightlife is on a much lower level, but this creates more space for rest and relaxation. You can also experience the authentic atmosphere of the island, which is very different from the busy summer months.

Meeting up in Spanish style
When the ‘winter in Ibiza’ starts, the store SLUIZ. (those cows along the road) organizes the event: Ibiza Food Factory. An event similar to the Vrijmibo in the Netherlands. A Valhalla for food truck lovers, where more than twenty restaurants offer the best of their menu. Discover the gastronomic side of Ibiza, with a drink in your right hand and a busy waving left hand. If you sometimes go to Ibiza, you’ll be saying hi to people many times; you can rest assured that you will meet people you know. In addition to good food and drinks, Ibiza Food Factory is completed with the live music. In addition, a special edition is organized during Christmas, which of course does not lack mulled wine.

Ibiza Food Factory of SLUIZ. starts monthly from Sunday, 27 October 2019.

One Day Retreat Ibiza
The winter in Ibiza is perfect for a retreat. Dont you want to go on a retreat for a whole week, but you still need a day for yourself? Then a one-day retreat is the solution for you. In one day, you will see the most beautiful places on the island, while you work on body and mind. When the beaches are empty again, a one-day retreat from One Day Retreat Ibiza is an extra serene experience. Create your own mini retreat, where you can even start in one of our villas or go along with the Mix&Meet retreat. Different styles of yoga, meditations, guided visualizations and a quiet walk are the main pillars of this day. You dont have to think about anything and are completely relieved: from all sessions, a picnic to healthy snacks.

Walking Ibiza
In addition to private tours, Walking Ibiza organizes so-called Community Walks all year round. Late summer and preseason are the best months to discover the island on foot. You can choose from short walks of about an hour and a half or challenge yourself to The Big One. These are often organized on Fridays, covering a distance of about 25 km. The guides are very professional and know a lot about Ibiza. You can bet that every time you discover something new in Ibiza this winter.

These restaurants and beach clubs are open all year round
The nice thing about the ‘winter in Ibiza’ is that a whole new meaning is given to closings and openings. We are not talking about the big clubs, but about renowned restaurants and beach clubs. Some remain open all year round: such as La Escollera, Can Terra and Cappuccino Grand Café. Others close for two months or open earlier than most, such as Cala Bassa Beach Club (in March). This adds an extra dimension, where every opening is a reason for a small party.

La Escollera
Whether you decide to spend the winter in Ibiza for a longer or shorter period: at La Escollera it always feels like a holiday. La Escollera in Es Cavallet is open all year round for lunch. Here you are very close to the sea, surrounded by palm trees: it could not be more tropical. If you’re lucky, you can enjoy the burratina, fresh fish and the most delicious desserts in January with only wearing a T-shirt. The fact that La Escollera is open all year round is perhaps a reason for the biggest party.

Yemanya
Is Cala Jondal extinct now that the Blue Marlin has closed its doors? Nothing could be further from the truth. Less than twenty meters away is a beach restaurant Yemanya. Here you can eat the most delicious Spanish classics such as prawns in garlic, grilled octopus or a well-filled platter with Spanish cheeses. Although it is probably the paella you keep coming back for. You can add Sangria, and no one will believe that it’s the middle of winter.

The Boat House
Some places in the world have it all. The Boat House in Cala de Sant Vicente is one of them. This beach restaurant ticks all the boxes. A lovely relaxed atmosphere, hammocks, cosy corners and super good food: 4 times check. The staff is very friendly and takes plenty of time for you. During the holidays they transform The Boat House into a true winter wonderland. Reservations are recommended. The Boat House usually closes two months a year, so check the website for the current opening hours.

Santa Gertrudis
Even in the winter months there is plenty to do in the heart of Ibiza. If it is a bit cooler, you can warm up at Wild Beets in Santa Gertrudis. They have a fine stove and healthy food, which is completely vegan.

Formentera
For the absolute tranquillity seeker, Formentera is the place to spend the winter. The island is perfect for long walks or bike rides along the azure blue sea and salt plains in the Salinas National Park. Actually, Ibiza’s little sister is just like Curacao: wonderfully relaxed, with a tropical vibe. Only then without the hordes of tourists.

Can Pep Simo
The Villa in the urbanisation Can Pep Simo offers spectacular views of the sea, Formentera and Dalt Villa. Hibernating here is wonderful: in the authentic village of Jesús there are plenty of restaurants and bars. Hostal Talamanca is also open all year round, which you can easily reach from your villa. Of course, there is also plenty to do in Ibiza Town, which is a ten-minute drive away. Although it is the sunsets from the roof terrace that will really fill your heart with the authentic Ibiza feeling.
